The Mountain View Boys Varsity Basketball team with Coaches Jon Nettleton and Mike Dawley recently visited the seniors at the Touchmark retirement community to compete in a “Varsity vs Seniors” game day. Two, 12-person teams competed in playing pingpong, shuffleboard, and eight-ball pool. The event serves as an annual service-learning project for the Mountain View boys.
“Touchmark residents are highly competitive, and they like to win. This is a terrific intergenerational event that resident love, because they are motivated to beat the young guys,” says Jim Johnston, Touchmark Life Enrichment/Wellness Director.
The winner of the event is based on whichever team wins the most games between the three sports. In the first year, the Mountain View team won, and last year the Touchmark residents claimed the trophy. This year the Touchmark seniors were successful again and will host the trophy again till the teams meet again next year.
