Mavericks News · January Bull Collar

Congratulations to Isaac Moss (Wrestling) and Olivia Kreiser (Girls Basketball) for winning the Bull Collar Award for the month of December.

  • Isaac was nominated by Head Wrestling Coach Spence Patrick.  Of Isaac, Coach Patrick says, “Isaac Moss barely made it to State last year, he was an alternate. He went 2 and 2 at state and decided he was going to win that tournament his senior year. That’s a big mountain to climb in a short time span, but he believed in himself. He didn’t just show up to early morning lifts all spring, summer and fall, he dominated them.   Despite his hard offseason work he has faced serious adversity this year. Every district match has been a battle, either he has lost or had to come back from behind to win. His work is beginning to pay off and he is now starting to beat the kids who he was losing to throughout the season. Just in time for districts and state. He believes in himself and the process and is now a strong candidate for a district title. What he has already achieved is remarkable and I believe he will get the job done.  On top of his serious commitment to sports, his grades have improved from good to great the last couple of semesters. He is a remarkable man that embodies what I believe the Bull Collar award signifies: Pouring your heart into your goals and gritting through adversity.

  • Head Girls Basketball Coach Connie Skogrand and Sheridan Berg nominated Olivia.  Coach Sko said that, “Olivia Kreiser is deserving of the Bull Collar award based on her leadership on and off the court. She is a well-rounded individual who takes on many challenges.  She has demonstrated dependability, commitment and determination on and off the basketball court. She goes out of her way to pick up younger players for practices and team functions. Olivia exhibits the intangibles that make her a leader on the basketball court as well as in the classroom.  Olivia has made an impact on the entire team with her persistent attitude and great work ethic. She makes others around her better by her leadership, positive attitude and passion. Olivia works tirelessly to make Mountain View a better place, and she inspires others through her vision and her sensibility

Great kids who are very deserving!
