Mavericks News · February Bull Collar

Congratulations to Dylan Peterson (Cheer) and Robyn Harper (Speech & Debate) for winning the Bull Collar Award for the month of February!

  • Our head Cheer Coach Connie Condie nominated Dylan.  Coach Condie said that, “Dylan is a Senior and  has been part of the Cheer team for the past 3 years. Dylan also participates in  Rugby each season. He is a tremendous team mate and is always helping whenever he can. Dylan brings an entertaining element to our practices, games and competitions. He never misses a beat when it comes to encouraging his team and trying new stunts. He is the brute force behind so many of our award winning stunts and he does and exceptional job. Dylan provides leadership and experience to our team and so many look to him for direction. He has been an integral part of making our team co-ed and recruiting new guys each year. He believes in our program and wants others to have the same family experience he has had with it.”

  • Sara Bell nominated Robyn and said that,” Robyn is a 4 year member of the Mountain View High School Speech and Debate Team where she is current Team Captain.  Robyn has recently qualified, for the second year in a row, to compete at the National Tournament in Dallas this summer.  She will also be receiving an Academic Achievement Award from the National Speech and Debate Association (top 1% of all student members based on point earnings, high GPA, and demonstration of outstanding character and leadership).  Robyn has earned 4 Varsity letters through her years of dedication to Speech and Debate.  Within our district, Robyn is well respected among other coaches, judges, and competitors.  Not only does she excel in the arena in Speech and Debate, which she will continue to do at the collegiate level, Robyn is a staunch advocate for human rights and the betterment of our community, volunteering her time and talents for many organizations in the: Book It, Forward; Youth Activist Network (domestic and sexual violence advocacy), political campaigns and National Honor Society.  Robyn is a true team player – she bolsters and uplifts the members of her team – and makes my job so much easier with her awesome organizational skills.  Robyn truly embodies all that is meant to be a Maverick!
